Town halls
[edit]Hi - Many thanks for your work on town halls. I think that Holmfirth Civic Hall is a great find and probably should have been drafted early. I am a bit more concerned about Stocksbridge Town Hall which looks as if it needs quite a lot of work to demonstrate significant coverage per WP:GNG. I will take a look tomorrow and see what I can do. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 23:18, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks also for your work adding details and generally improving the articles which I've created. I agree that the current sources on Stocksbridge Town Hall are poor. I've rather optimistically written the article because apparently there's a proper history of the building in History of Stocksbridge by Jack Branton, but I don't have access to that book. Warofdreams talk 23:32, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
- As you will have seen I have expanded Stocksbridge Town Hall and added a bit of historical background to the article on Castleford Civic Centre. The Castleford one already had good coverage so that was pretty easy. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 18:01, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Dormskirk that's some great work, thank you. I'll most likely be adding a few more articles on town halls soon and would welcome your contributions to them, should you have the time. Warofdreams talk 23:47, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, that's fine. Many thanks. Dormskirk (talk) 00:02, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi - I notice that you have included Skegness Town Hall in the List of city and town halls in England. There are now 670 town halls in the list and for all the other 669 we have images (and the same for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). I have previously used the availability of an image as a key criteria for selection and in a number of cases I visited the town hall first before writing the article. Skegness is a bit out of my way and, as you have recently added a few town halls in the Lincolnshire area, I wondered if it was near you? Is there any chance you could take a photo before we include it? Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 00:57, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Dormskirk Sadly I won't be in Skegness any time soon. Perhaps someone from WikiProject Lincolnshire might be able to take a photo? As it's a large and listed building, it's surprising there is no photo on Commons or Geograph, and the only ones on Flickr are under non free licences. I've got no objection if you want to remove it from the list until there's an accompanying photo. Warofdreams talk 02:19, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi - Many thanks for that. I have as you suggested opened a section on WikiProject Lincolnshire in the hope that someone responds. In the meantime, I have uploaded a (rather poor quality) image originating from Geograph, pending uploading of something better. I will take a look at the article itself later today. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 09:53, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

Listed buildings in Barden
[edit]I cannot find any listed buildings in Barden, Craven - just two scheduled monuments. Are you aware of any? Peter I. Vardy (talk) 16:07, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Peter I. Vardy the official website seems to be struggling with the abolition of the North Yorkshire districts and so is only showing the listed monuments, but there are a fair few buildings. Here's a list which may it may not be completely up to date. Warofdreams talk 16:15, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- Many thanks. For some reason, that did not come up on my search on British Listed Buildings or the NHLE. Will do it next. Cheers. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 18:04, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Revolutionary Communist Party (UK, 1944)
[edit]Unfortunately, much of Revolutionary Communist Party (UK, 1944) has been deleted for being unsourced[1]. Would you be able to find sources for the material and restore it with citations (and/or ask other editors familiar with the topic to do so)? Wellington Bay (talk) 13:58, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Wellington Bay that should be possible, I remember writing an early version drawing heavily on Bornstein and Richardson's War and the International. I don't think I have a copy any more, but I should be able to identify which passages come from it. Warofdreams talk 16:12, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

Deanery of Middlesbrough
[edit]Hello - I have seen your templates collecting the churches in the same Deanery together (wish I had thought of it myself). In your latest Deanery of Middlesbrough, you include a huge swathe of Wensleydale churches such as St Grgeory's in Bedale and Saint Patrick in Patrick Brompton. Have these changed recently as I was under the impression they were in the Deanery of Wensley (Diocese of Leeds), not the Diocese of York, to which the Deanery of Middlesbrough belongs? More than happy to be wrong. Thanks. The joy of all things (talk) 21:45, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- Ah! I think your links are wrong. The template for the Wensley Deanery states Middlesbrough in the title, and if you select any of the V-T-E links it takes you to the actual Middlesbrough one, not the Wensley one. Sorry. The joy of all things (talk) 21:48, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- Glad you like the idea! That is exactly it, and the link and title should have been corrected, but I suspect you can see old versions on some of the articles. Warofdreams talk 21:49, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Sort key - UK churches
[edit]This has been discussed several times in the past. The last time I have found is December 2013 at Wikipedia talk:Categorization/Archive 15#Sort keys - churches. Do you know of a more recent discussion? Mhockey (talk) 22:53, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- No, I'm not aware of a more recent discussion, but this is very common way to sort names of churches outside Wikipedia, and has been adopted for a majority of church articles in Wikipedia; while the 2013 discussion came to a different conclusion, it had low participation and hasn't been widely adopted. Perhaps a new discussion is in order? Warofdreams talk 23:05, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree that a new discussion would be good. I had understood that the 2011 discussion (which was broader than the brief discussion in 2013 which referred to the earlier discussion) was still the consensus, but it is clear that there is a lot of inconsistency which ought to be sorted out. As far as I can see, the inconsistency only relates to UK churches, which are sometimes sorted by parish, sometimes by location and sometimes by name or dedication.--Mhockey (talk) 20:54, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
- I overlooked a more recent discussion (2022) Wikipedia talk:Categorization/Archive 18#DEFAULTSORT for churches.--Mhockey (talk) 16:30, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, that was an interesting read and felt it was getting towards a consensus, it's a shame it petered out at the draft RfC stage. Warofdreams talk 21:23, 27 July 2024 (UTC)

- @Dormskirk thank you for your work on this article and the whole series. Block Request
[edit]Hi! Hope you are having a nice day.
You came up as a recently active admin.
There's been an IP user (190.141.160.124) who has been repeatedly vandalising pages related to sharks (only 1 day after being unblocked). I think I've sent around 10 level 4 warnings and this point and they've been reported to WP:AIV by another user but they keep vandalising immediately after a revert.
I was wondering if you could take a look and potentially block them if you see fit, as it's becoming annoying to have to constantly revert all their unexplained blanking and factual errors.
Thanks! :)
- Thanks for your message, but I'm about to log off, with the request up on AIV you should get a response soon. Warofdreams talk 23:07, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to participate in a research
[edit]Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

The article Spartacist League of Britain has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Extremely minor left-wing group, no notability established. Attempts to find RS come up blank, article is nearly 100% WP:SELFPUB violation. No likelihood of improvement. Delete.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rambling Rambler (talk) 11:29, 27 October 2024 (UTC)

The article Workers League (Ireland) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
I can't find additional sources for this organisation. I don't believe it could pass WP:ORG even with a few additional sources, nevermind the state it's currently in and has been since 2010. It's a micro-organisation that split from a micro-organisation. Despite the organisation having a famous member, Jack O'Connor, "Workers League Jack O'Conner" as a search term does not yield any sources.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
