The vandalism warning
[edit]I apologize if I made a mistake. I'm not sure what the warning was for, because I need to know where I put the warning (probably under the IP address you were using). If you have no idea where it came from, then it may be because I was directing the message to somebody else who also uses your IP address (in fact, this is the most likely scenario). If you think that that isn't it, I would be happy to investigate it further. Please leave a note on my talk page telling me where you found the message. Sorry for any confusion! -Frazzydee|✎ 15:05, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- No, I wouldn't give you a vandalism warning for copying and pasting from wikipedia- even if you use the entire article. However, it is possible that I may have given you a copyvio notice for that...again- I need to see the talk page to really understand what happened. -Frazzydee|✎ 15:15, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Sorry, I can'tget your IP address with that message...try [1]. But to be honest, it's not a big deal. I only report recurrant vandals, and nobody's likely to report you to your ISP even if you are recurrant. The worst that can happen is that your IP address gets blocked from editing (my message is partially a scare tactic :)). But it should be noted that if vandals try to evade the block, they will sometimes be reported to their ISP. Like I said before, you probably share an IP address with somebody else- that's all. In all likelyhood: nobody is trying to accuse you at all. -Frazzydee|✎ 19:51, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)
To be completely honest- I'm not really a VFD person. I'll try to give you an educated answer- but if you want some really good insight on how to make this better (assuming it can be made better), you might want to talk to somebody I know named Geogre.
Firstly, the article would best be under his real name, not a pseudonym- that's just the way Wikipedia is. The pseudonym should redirect to his name. Judging by some of the stuff that he's done (i.e. met with Fidel Castro, played basketball with the president of Cuba), he seems like he would be a fairly important figure. You should concentrate on emphasizing his accomplishments. A separate section might be a good idea if you can fill it up enough. One of the problems that some of the folks wanting to delete might have is that a lot of it talks just about his theories, and what he's thinking. People want to see evidence that this guy is important, and that deserves an entry. A great place to start might be on his accomplishments at Students for a Democratic Society.
Has he written any books? If so, you should definately include them in the article, preferably with a short synopsis. This is another reason why his name would be a pretty big bonus. Anybody can create a pseudonym on the internet and come up with a bunch of theories. I don't know much about this person, or what he does, but if he is notable, then you need to prove it. I know that you listed some web contributions, but the internet has a certain anonymity with it, so only web contributions might not be enough. Having said that, I think that you did a wonderful job on improving the article- this version seems to be infinitely better than when it was listed on VfD, and everybody who contributed did a great job. If you can prove that this person is noteworthy, and add a name, it could work wonders for its future. -Frazzydee|✍ 15:44, 3 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Hi, Che. About Redstar2000, I can see that you've already improved it a lot. And you've also already received a lot of good advice, especially from Frazzydee, about what you need to include to make the article more encyclopedic, so I'm not writing to you about the big issues, I just wanted to advise you to remove the remark towards the end about how "many believe him to be egotistical and self-centered". It's too personal, it's not encyclopedic, and it just looks out of place. I hope you don't mind my saying so. Btw, I think I saw you mention somewhere that you were trying to figure out who had created the original article. It was posted from a computer in Australia — don't know if that helps at all. Re: Anarcho-capitalist critique of left-anarchism
[edit]Aich, I'm so sorry I didn't respond earlier...I saw it before and was planning to review it when I had more time, but I never got around to it :'(. Have you already gotten some insight from somebody else, or were you still waiting on me? Again, I'm really sorry about that!
I looked at the Redstar2000 page- I'm sorry that it was deleted. Maybe if you wrote a strong enough argument you could try to get it back by using the votes for undeletion page? If you want an archive of what was there before, I would be more than happy to retrieve it for you. Thanks for your time- and sorry again for my embarassingly late response. -Frazzydee|✍ 23:54, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- I don't think this article is awful -- it comes close to NPOV, my main problem is that it is written in the style of a pamphlet and not an encyclopedia -- and that all the content bewlongs in the Anarch-Capitalism article itself; polemics don't merit their own pages. Of course, I have other questions -- is anarcho capitlaism just a term made up by a few guys with websites? How many peoiple are in the moevement? What is its structure? An enecylopedia article will look at these issues. Anyway, if you want to move the content to the main article page I think that minimally makes sense. But if you object to it entirely, put it on the VfD page as we shouldn't delete pages unilaterally, Slrubenstein
Thank you
[edit]I am not a contributor to Wikipedia, but I happened to find the article on the Ridge Route in California today. My family has driven to Los Angeles for family vacations from Spokane, WA many times. I was excited to learn about the history of this interesting piece of geography. So, I mailed the link to my wife and two children. My wife called me and asked if I was playing some kind of sick joke on her. The page had been vandalised since I had read it this morning.
Bottom line, I wanted to thank you for your reversal of the vandalism before my children had been subjected to the crass and IMHO dehumanizing image that had replaced the article. Thanks again. Tom Heavey (theavey@gmail.com)
Speaking as a contributor to Wikipedia, thanks for reverting that vandalism so quickly. I really appreciate that, as I am one of the two principal editors of the Ridge Route article. BTW, welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you continue to make good contributions here. --avnative 14:15, Oct 1, 2004 (UTC)

Greetings, compadre,
We have similar names, did you notice? So [moving right along], I recently read Jon Lee Anderson's 810-page biography of our beloved commandante, Ernesto El Che Guevara. Have you read or heard of it? El_C 07:47, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Hmm. You seem to have misread and/or overread me, I wasn't asking for help, but rather wandering how familliar you were with the work, considering your username and all. As I said, I have read it recently, with great interest. On that note, I highly recommend it – though I take issue with some his interpertations, but I do give him a lot of credit for decisively vindicating Che from a lot of the more vulgar and still prevalent slanders – and, of course, it lends much greater credibility for these to come from a respected American biographer as opposed to a respected Cuban biographer). Let me know if you wish for me to elaborate further. El_C 10:38, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)

- The wiki tells me "Can't delete this article because it contains new block-compressed revisions, which are not supported by the new selective undelete feature and could result in data loss if deletion and undeletion happened. This is a temporary situation which the developers are well aware of, and should be fixed within a month or two. Please mark the page for deletion, protect the page and wait for a software update to allow normal deletion. If there is an actual complaint from a copyright holder or other suitable legal complaint and they are unwilling to accept page blanking and protection as a temporary measure, please ask a developer for assistance." I recommend you blank it, except for a note explaining the situation (and still linking to the VfD). -- Jmabel | Talk 17:18, Mar 30, 2005 (UTC)

I understand that anarchists have traditionally been anti-capitalist, But, all that matters is that the term is noteable. It's pretty common, so it should be in Wikipedia. Anarchism template
[edit]"What I'm saying is, they should be in a different section, not under "schools of anarchism"."
Crimethinc and Post-Left is a school of anarchism, being that people write under the pretext of that set of school of thought. This is irony in action of course, being that both want to destroy ideology, but at the same time creation a set standard of discouse.
"And the reality is, implying they are a huge part of the anarchist movement is americo-centric. Very americo-centric. Step out from there, and they don't register amongst the anarchist community."
? Dont' register amoungst the anarchist community? Crimethinc has been (for better or worse), some of the best outreach material that I have seen to date, and this is coming from a anarchist community organizer of a couple of years. Also, crimethinc has been translated into a wide variety of various languages etc, and I think has spread to influence many people outside of America.
I spent alot of time working on this page, to date I have updated the anarchist history section, put in a bullet by bullet account of the anarchist movement across the globe, and written the large section on anarchist society, economics, etc (the bullet by bullet run down), so I want to see the site flourish just as you do.
Also, why keep "individualist anarchism" and "eco-anarchism" up there and not crimethinc? At least more people will come into the anarchism site through that as opposed to some crap that really dosen't exist outside of a few dusty Max Stirnet essays.

[edit]You don't have Propaghandi linked to from your music section. Surely this is an accidental omission. But seriously, you should give them a listen if you haven't heard any of their music. Failing that, at least have a look at their lyrics; they're a great band.
image:Hammer_sickle.png
[edit]Hello again CyM. Well, I was able to replace that image on every page that has been displayed on, moving it to Image:Hammer_sickle_clean.png. Once the old image is deleted, I think we should move this to the Wikipedia Commons, so this image can be used on all Wikimedia projects (including the various Wikipedia under many languages). If you have any comments, just let me know. Also, I created an image, called Image:Red_star.png that can be used on any Communist pages that you see fit. Zscout370 20:53, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Hey, I got just an idea. Should we have a vote on this image, since I created an image, along did you and a few others. I just want to see what image will be used. I promise that I will not revert the image again after the vote, unless you give me permission to (mainly to compress the size of the image). Deal? Zscout370 (talk) 01:40, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit]What's with the remark you made at Talk:Che_Guevara#ComradeChe.com about you being banned? Banned from what? -- Jmabel | Talk 06:32, May 4, 2005 (UTC)
- Perhaps he blocked your account for some period of time, but, unless I am mistaken, only the ArbCom can ban you. But I don't see anything even mildly objectionable in what you said on that page. What on earth was the basis for the block? -- Jmabel | Talk 23:07, May 4, 2005 (UTC)
- Aha! You might clarify that at Talk:Che_Guevara#ComradeChe.com. It's quite unclear. -- Jmabel | Talk 23:10, May 4, 2005 (UTC)
Hammer and Sickle image, again
[edit]I know you are probably getting tired of this situation, but its not about reverting or anything.
There is a Wikimedia project called Commons. The Commons is a project that allows images that have no copyright issues to be uploaded there. It will allow other users from other Wikimedia projects to use that image. Example, I uploaded the Hammer and Sickle image to the Commons. The file name is Image:Hammer and sickle.png. Someone from the Polish or French Wikipedia can go in and use that image on their pages with no problems. It is like a collecive, but only for images (to my knowledge).
Now, because of what I did, I am going to every page that has Image:Hammer sickle clean.png and replacing it with Image:Hammer and sickle.png. I know most of them use templates, so 90 percent of the pages will be fine. I hope you understand what I am doing and if you also want, you can help me by replacing the image links like what I did to your user page. If you have any questions, just let me know. anarchism / historical
[edit]Hi Che,
I know I'm coming in new to a long-running saga, but I would like to help out with the anarchism page.
Saw that you have replaced the old anarchism page with anarchism-historical. In principle I'm in favour - but do you think it's ready yet? I was looking to start editing the a-h page the other day but it seemed to me there are some issues around tne basic structure/chronology which need to be agreed on. So in the end I just posted a note on the discussion page (copied below) - what do you think? -
I really like the feel and the look of this new page, but at the same time it seems to be getting pretty muddled. Have been sitting looking at it for a while trying to think of ways to help straighten it out, and thinking maybe we need to - not dumb down but inject a shot of simplicity. I can see people don't want to introduce a timeline of famous characters, but perhaps it'd help to be more linear in terms of the development of ideas. I.e., follow a stricter chronology in terms of sub-head topics and within each one.
Eg. at the moment we jump from godwin and proudhon to the florence congress then back to the ego and its own. And within private property section have the (20th century) platform then next para starts 'later in the 19th century'.
As a suggestion - what about:
1) first agree on the discussion page an ordered list of subheaded topics
2) within each subhead use a strictly chronological approach.
As my clumsy stab at an ordered list of subheads:
godwin and proudhon - birth of modern anarchism.
private property - starting with proudhon's 'what is property'
individualism
(you know i'm not sure about including russian nihilism at all as a section - it is very country-specific, and not exclusively anarchist history by any means - eg. could argue as well that SR party was true successor of nihilist movement)
the international - development of anarchism as libertarian tendency within working class movement
propaganda of the deed / insurrectionary anarchism (don't these two belong together?)
pacifist anarchism - debates around violence (would also mention debates over 1st world war here) - tolstoy
syndicalism
feminism
russian revolution - the platform
anti-fascism - spanish civil war
I think looking at my schema I would tend to work more around historical events and movements, and the way ideas fed off actions, more than as it currently is. I don't think this is a bad thing in a historical account - to situate anarchism within working class revolutionary history rather than as if ideas are are born in the air.

Ensuring consistency
[edit]I have edited the intro of this the anarchism article to point to anarcho-capitalism and removed the section on anarcho-capitalism. This is an attempt to mirror the status of the libertarianism article in regards to the lesser known libertarian socialism, please take a moment to look at each article and compare. It is my belief that given the featured status of the libertarianism article, its relative stability compared to this article, and the clear similarity of the subject matter, this is a road toward a legitimate compromise. I would ask that the two major catalysts of the ongiong edit war of this article (RJ and Hogeye), both of whom have also edited the libertarianism article, please ensure that you are consistent in any standard you apply to this article. Hopefully this will help us reach the point of stability that the civil editors of libertarianism have been able to do in the relative absence of constant antagonism.
This message has been posted to the user pages of all the current major contributors I could find, if you know of someone I have left out please feel free to forward it. Revkat 16:52, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Engels on Anarchism.
"The anarchists put the thing upside down. They declare that the proletarian revolution must begin by doing away with the political organisation of the state. But after its victory the sole organisation which the proletariat finds already in existence is precisely the state. This state may require very considerable alterations before it can fulfil its new functions. But to destroy it at such a moment would be to destroy the only organism by means of which the victorious proletariat can assert its newly-conquered power, hold down its capitalist adversaries and carry out that economic revolution of society without which the whole victory must end in a new defeat and in a mass slaughter of the workers similar to those after the Paris Commune."

Re: Che-Lives
[edit]Hi there, it's nice to hear from you again =)
Che-Lives was deleted via the procedure at WP:VFD. You can see the comments & voting that occurred at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Che-Lives.
If you would like to try and revive it, the policy is outlined at Wikipedia:Undeletion policy. I suggest that you look over the comments people made, as deletions like these are usually permanent. However, if you feel that some important facts were missed or some of the allegations were incorrect, you can request that the decision be reviewed at Wikipedia:Deletion review.
Hope that helps!

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Revolutionaryleftlogo.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Revolutionaryleftlogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Left anarchism
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Left anarchism, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add db-author
to the top of Left anarchism. Skomorokh incite 19:05, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
